Sheldon ISD communications team earns numerous awards at annual convention

Each year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education foundations, education associations and organizations for their work in various print and electronic media categories such as newsletters, programs, posters, reports, writing, image/identity packages, photography, graphics, video, electronic presentations, mobile apps, campaigns, events and web sites.

“Kudos to our communications team for continuing to promote our students, teachers, staff and school board,” Sheldon ISD Superintendent Dr. King Davis said. “Although educating students is our primary focus, we realize the overall importance of keeping our stakeholders informed through our website, social media platforms, electronic newsletters as well as printed publications.”

Sheldon ISD received a prestigious Certificate of Merit for its marketing campaign of the new Sheldon ISD Panther Stadium. The judges were impressed how the district had used this multipurpose facility to not only host sporting events like football and soccer, but to also host community functions like Harris County Emergency Preparedness Training, Sheldon ISD Education Foundation Vendor Luncheon, Sheldon ISD Town Hall meetings as well as other various events.

The district received a Best of Category and Gold Star award in the commemorative category for its inaugural stadium patch design. Additional Gold Stars were earned in the categories of Image/Identify Package, Photo – Other Subjects, and External E-Newsletter.

Silver Stars were also awarded to the district in the categories of Invitations, Photo – Sports Subjects, and Website (Original Design).

This year, approximately 1,406 entries were received that varied among three divisions based on student enrollment. Since Sheldon ISD surpassed 10,000 students last school year, the district now competes in the 10,000-30,000 division.
